  • Toronui Station is a 1500 hectare family owned sheep and beef property located in the Tutira district of Northern Hawkes Bay.

  • Craig Foss. The Right Balance.

Located at the end of the Mokamoka Road, the property runs from 400m above sea level at the bottom to 1308m at the top, and includes Mount Taraponui, the highest point on the Mangaharuru Range. The top of the property is the highest farmed land in the North Island.
Toronui farms traditionally bred sheep and beef cattle, with a focus on producing quality stock and wool which is well sought after in the market.
Environmental management is a key focus of the business. The property has large blocks of native bush and is the headwater of the Esk River. Regular water quality monitoring is undertaken and an ongoing fencing programme continues to retire and protect sensitive areas.
The high rainfall and abundance of natural springs produce enough water to operate two run of river hydro plants. Owned and operated by Trustpower, these turbines supply up to 3.8MW of electricity to the national grid.
The altitude, high rainfall and aspect of the property provides a range of land classes, with sweeping views of the whole of Hawkes Bay and unique land forms.
